Shoes For Wide Feet
A.Mc.Donald custom makes shoes and boots for a variety of wide feet types for men and women in our Sydney workshop in the Strand Arcade. We can also make you custom fit wide shoes to your measurements from our styles in the ready to wear range. If you’d like to ask us any questions or book an appointment please contact us.
Wide fitting shoes are made to order and require a minimum of 3 fittings to learn more about the process go to the custom made page. Fittings are by appointment only. At your first fitting we suggest you bring an old pair of your shoes so we can identify the wear patterns and pressure points. These shoes in combination with your measurements enable us to create the best fitting last (mould of your foot shape size and width) possible.
A shoe size is an alphanumerical indication of the fitting size of a shoe for a person. Often it just consists of a number indicating the length because many footwear manufacturers only provide a standard width for economic reasons. There are several different shoe-size systems that are used worldwide. These systems differ in what they measure, what unit of measurement they use, and where the size 0 (or 1) is positioned.
Only a few systems and manufacturers also take the width of the feet into account. These width fittings are often expressed alphabetically. AAA for very narrow, EEEEE or F or G for very wide. These fitting systems are very rarely translatable between brands and styles. Sometimes these width fittings can be called fractional fittings. Finding the right width fitting can be difficult as most footwear manufacturers are driven by seasonal trends and do not make fractional fitting shoes.
