In 1990, in a small workshop in Surry Hills, Andrew began designing and handcrafting bespoke men’s shoes and women’s shoes. Within 6 years he was awarded a Churchill fellowship, studying under master crafstmen shoemakers, John Lobb in London, and Paul Harnden shoemakers.
On his return to Sydney, Andrew opened a shop/workshop in William St Paddington, where he traded as A McDonald Shoemaker for 14 years.
In 2013 A.McDonald relocate to The Strand Arcade(Sydney city) in order to align his brand with Australia’s leading bespoke artisinal retailers. His ever-popular shoemaking course will continue at this location.
Founded on craftsmanship and design exploration, Andrew has accrued a team of dedicated shoemakers who are at the forefront of footwear and accessories design.
A.McDonald Shoemaker manufacture quality footwear and accessories, custom made and ready-to-wear. The workshop produces two seasonal ready-to-wear ranges annually, exporting collections to select retail boutiques globally.
